This is no different with Digital Cameras. The problem is that the average consumer can be a little overwhelmed when trying to decide which accessories they really need for their camera. Especially coming from a pushy salesperson.

My goal here in this article is to provide some ideas as to what you really ought to be considering when purchasing Digital Camera Accessories.

An Extra Battery! - For me personally this is the number one on my list of Digital Camera Accessories. I don't know how many times I have been somewhere and my camera decides to die on me. Most Digital Cameras today use up an enormous amount of power, and unfortunately the only solution is to carry a lot of spare batteries on the side. There are camera with batteries you can recharge, naturally these are usually more expensive, but the same rules apply. You will need to charge these batteries very often, so having one on the side will certainly help with the continuity of photo taking!

Digital Camera Software - While you may have taken the worst picture in the history of photography (OK, that would be a pretty hard task to accomplish) but the good news is that you can often correct the mistakes with software. Fixing aspects like red-eye and brightening effects can turn a so-so photograph into a professional-looking one.

Tripod - This is one of the key items that professionals use all the time. This will allow you to take photographs with a much more evened look to them. The trick on this item is to get one that is relatively easy to carry around. Some tripods can be very bulky and cumbersome.

Carrying Case - When you spend a few hundred dollars on a good camera, you really need to find something that will protect it from nature's elements and also the accidental drop on the ground. Try to look for one that provides ample cushioning for your camera.Another Flash - This is also known as an "external flash" and is really for more professional and advanced users. The most obvious benefit of this flash is that it provide much better lighting than your normal camera

There are more accessories that you can buy, but for now these are some basics to get you started.

Here's to some great photographs!

About the Author:

If you would like to know more, please visit http://tipsondigitalphotography.com/Digital_Camera_Accessories.html Timothy Cashman is an independent reviewer on products & services. Often, however, the actual dollhouse residents are given little or no thought. While some dollhouses sit as empty and vacant showpieces, many dollhouse owners prefer to add a bit of realism to the dollhouse by adding a doll family.

The dolls that you select will depend on the age and interests of the dollhouse owner, as well as the function for which the dollhouse is used. If the dollhouse is for a small child, dolls should definitely be included in the package. It is by playing with the dolls that the child will learn important life lessons. Be sure that the dolls are sturdy and large enough that no pieces will present a choking hazard. Also, be prepared for the dolls to end up in extremely strange locations and situations. Some unexpected occupants will also move in, mostly other dolls that the child owns. A child’s dollhouse should be considered a toy rather than a showpiece.

For a display dollhouse, the dolls should fit with the theme of the house. You can custom make dolls, have commissioned pieces made from your own design, or order pre-made dolls. A wide variety of pre-made dolls are available. Most are designed to fit the common 1:12 scale, but you can find dolls in all miniature scales.

The number of dolls and their apparent ages will vary according to the style and era of the dollhouse, its size, and the story you are trying to portray. If you wish to show the everyday life of Victorian aristocracy, the dolls you select will be far different from those used to show life during the American Great Depression.

Remember that the focus should remain on the dollhouse. Feel free to take artistic license in selecting the dolls. If the average number of children in a family of the era was 12, you do not need to fill the house with 12 individual child dolls. It would be perfectly appropriate to have three or four children of a range of ages.

Doll clothes can be either purchased or made by hand. When making doll clothes, remember that scrap fabrics from a variety of sources work extremely well. At the scale of a dollhouse doll, elaborate detailing can be implied more than created outright. A simple scrap of black velvet, for example, can be formed and decorated with a gold pen to create the illusion of a ball gown.

Whether you purchase or create your dolls and their clothes, keep in mind that the dolls’ function is to balance the dollhouse and create a sense of life. Do not become so focused on elaborate dolls that you throw the dollhouse out of proportion. Bring the dolls into the overall interior design plan of the dollhouse for the most realistic and harmonious effect.

About the Author:

Learn more about the fascinating world of miniatures. No dollhouse will be exactly like another, nor should it be. Nevertheless, there are certain steps to the process that, if followed, will help each dollhouse to become a harmonious and balanced whole. Of course, rules are made to be broken, so any of these tips may not apply to your particular design. Just be aware of the purpose behind these guidelines. That will ensure that your unique ideas work in harmony with the principles of balance and design.

1. Be aware of the purpose and function of the dollhouse.

Before you ever begin dollhouse construction or even planning, it is important to make an overall assessment of the project. Who will own the dollhouse? Will it be a toy or a display item? Where will the dollhouse be located? How much space is available for its display? What are the interests of the dollhouse owner and how will these interests be incorporated into the design? What will the style and era of the dollhouse be? If the style is eclectic, what overall theme will tie the individual rooms together? Be sure that you narrow the focus of the project before you begin.

2. Determine the structure and style of the dollhouse.

Choose a scale for the miniaturization. The most common scale in the United States today is 1:12, where one inch of dollhouse equals one foot of a full-sized home.

The most popular option is to purchase a dollhouse kit. This will give you all the precut pieces necessary to build the model of your choice.

If you decide to design the dollhouse yourself, determine which building materials you will use and how large the finished product will be. Now you will need to draw the layout. Dollhouse layouts are can be created on paper or with the help of software. From a simple shareware program to AutoCAD, many programs are now able to give you a three-dimensional layout of the dollhouse before you begin.

3. Design the interior of the dollhouse.

Keep in mind the form and function of the dollhouse as well as the architectural style when planning your interior decorating. As with the exterior design, be sure to lay out the interior carefully before you begin decorating. Decide on a cohesive theme for the interior, but design each room individually. Draw up a floor plan on the same scale as the exterior shell. Be certain to mark out existing architectural features such as doors, windows and any special elements. Choose a focal point for each room and design the rest of the room around that focal point.

4. Pre-wire the dollhouse for electricity before furnishing the interior.

Lighting can be an exciting part of your interior design plan. Be sure to wire the necessary electricity before adding any other interior features. In this way, the wiring can be hidden behind paint, wallpaper and flooring, creating a much more realistic look.

5. Decorate the interior of the dollhouse.

Follow your interior design plan but leave yourself room for inspiration and imaginative creativity. Expect this to be an ongoing process, not something completed in a weekend. Enjoy the process of shopping for just the right furniture, flooring and all the little details.

6. Decide who will live in your dollhouse.

Some dollhouses are left empty, functioning strictly as design showcases. However, adding a few doll occupants will give your dollhouse a feeling of warmth and life. Take your time deciding on the perfect doll occupants.

About the Author:

Add to your miniature collection, or start a new one! In fact, the main problem lies in the wide variety of items that you could easily integrate in your home or office décor. But, the bigger problem lies not in the variety of choices but in the budget and your ability to stick to it. Although the budget is an important consideration, this does not mean that you will not be able to achieve your decorating goals. All you have to do is to look at the project in a different way, and you will realize that you will not need a huge amount of cash to fulfill your ideas and plans.

So, when working on your interior design projects on a budget the first thing you should do is stay away from the mass produced ready-made kits on wall art. These kits are generally over-priced and do not provide a good return on investment as to how much area of the room the actually cover. These kits also have the tendency to take away the fun from all the decorating and planning.

After this, you should take a good look around your home and try to imagine the effect a few normal household items and touch of paint can give to your home. For instance, if you want to add some texture to your wall, then you can simply achieve it by sponge painting that wall. The technique of sponge painting is to just dab the wet paint on your wall with the help of a sponge or just directly paint the wall with a sponge.

Sponge painting is one of the most fun techniques that you can get. Here, not only will you be able to do it yourself but you can also involve your family in it. This will also not hurt your budget as you just need paint and a few sponge. You should definitely try out this technique as it produces some wonderful results.

If you are not into sponge painting then you can also use stencils to decorate your walls. You can apply stencils with help of normal house paint. If you want a glossier and metallic finish then you can also use spray paints on the stencils. There are so many different kinds of stencils available that you will be spoilt of choice. You can definitely find a stencil that will not only enhance the theme of your room but also will suit your family. One word of advice, when you decide to use stencils, do not forget to cover the area outside the stencils to avoid any kind of spillage.

About the Author:

Please visit our website for further information on tapestries.

Read more articles by: Ed Beatty

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

A Guide To Photo Shooting For Portraits

Before delving into the how of portrait photography let us decide the primary goal of why people opt for a portrait. Portrait captures the time in itself. The rich and the mighty would earlier get portraits drawn of their own so that generations to come will view them. The emergence of photography has in no manner decreased the importance of portrait among people who appreciate it. While a photograph will not withstand the time, an oil painting portrait continues to be there for many generations at a stretch. So the principal goal of a portrait is to capture found memories of people, occasions etc.

As a new trend in portrait painting has emerged (reproducing portrait from photographs), this field has witnessed renewed vigour. Now more and more people are going for portraits being created out of their photographs through a less painful procedure and at a cost which is around a fifth of the price that one had to shell in the yesteryears. So, now people not only get portraits made of their own self, but also their friends, pets, house, family etc.

Since the photograph is the basic material for creating the portrait, the photographer can play a major role in the final output, i.e. the portrait. Here are some guidelines for the portrait photographer.

The choice of background is an important decision. And it is not that the background is to be focused at when shooting the portrait photograph. In fact, what is required is a neutral background so that the entire focus of the portrait must be on the subject’s face. That is a difficult decision, you think. But there lies your skill as an ace photographer. A soft solid colour background would serve better than a crowded market place where there is fear of losing focus.

Now when you have chosen a neutral background, obscure it further. The effect of this is that a stronger emphasis is put on the subject. It is just like creating a movie where you have to show the protagonist as being distinct. Otherwise, he will fall within the crowd. The photo must be taken with a shallow depth of field. Use a zoom lens and shoot the subject from a short distance or by setting the aperture wider.

Eyes must be the focus of any good portrait. It is often told that the eyes tell it all. Try to learn what the eyes are telling. Is there some story that they want to tell? The photographer has the power to direct the portrait in the direction he wants.

Natural lighting is the best for capturing a good portrait photograph. The full colour range and the warmth of the skin are best visible in natural light. The object must be placed in such a way that the sun-rays hit the subject from the side. If the sun-rays hit at the back of the subject, it will appear shaded. If the same sun-rays are coming from the front, it will over expose the face and distort its natural colours.

Finally, take not one but many photographs of the subject, possibly in different poses (all natural). With a digital camera taking many photographs is hardly going to add to your cost. But this horde of photographs is going to give you a wider choice.

About the Author:

Kelvin is working with http://www.paintyourlife.com. Wall tapestries with knights and castles often adorned the very castles they displayed. Tapestries were important in castles to reduce the draft and cold in the large stone buildings. They were hung on the inside of exterior walls in the rooms where people congregated. Tapestries with knights and castles were often created to preserve the history of the occupants of the castle and the weavings often remained in the castle for many centuries and generations. With each new generation adding their piece of work to the visual history on the walls.

Tapestries from the middle ages can sometimes be very helpful in providing social information of the time period. They depict the armor that was worn and the accessories such as banners and horse decoration used during battle. They also showed the original construction of buildings that may no longer exist but still hold historical relevance. Such things as food and drink and household customs were depicted with pride and preserved as an indication of the family’s position. They were often very busy tapestries in that they may depict many people and horses and activities all one the same piece of work.

Medieval tapestries also depict art forms of, hunting scenes, gallantry of nobles and knights, the unicorn, and dining and feasting of the nobles. Unicorn tapestries are one of the marvels of the world. Unicorn tapestries reflect Incarnation, the Passion, the Resurrection, and the five senses.

By the early Renaissance period or fifteenth century, artists were anxious to leave the Black Middle Ages behind and express their feelings of individual freedom in the bright colors of huge paintings and tapestries with heraldic, pastoral, romantic or exotic themes.

Online tapestry retailers have become a very good source for purchasing tapestries with medieval themes and tapestries of all subjects. Designer Wall Tapestries offers very detailed pictures of each tapestry and provide you with the dimensions and features such as rod pockets and types of fabric used.

About the Author:

Susan Russell - Owner and Interior Designer for Designer Wall Tapestries Feel free to browse there Medieval Tapestries section.

Read more articles by: Susan Russell

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Do You Know Your Crochet Terms?

When learning how to crochet, you will soon realize that the patterns use a lot of abbreviations. These are crochet terms that are shortened to make patterns shorter and easier to read. Anyone learning how to crochet needs to familiarize themselves with basic crochet terms in order to read the patterns properly. There are a number of standard crochet terms and abbreviations that are frequently used. Some of these crochet terms pertain to the various stitches used in a section of a pattern, while others refer to colors. MC is the crochet term for the main color that is used in a pattern. CC is the secondary or contrasting color used. YO means to wrap the yarn over the hook and CH is the crochet term for a chain stitch.

There are even more standard crochet terms, such as sc, which means single crochet and dc, meaning double crochet. Single crochet and double crochet are simply ways of stitching; all of the terms used are based on a single crochet stitch, which means inserting the crochet hook into a stitch, wrapping the yarn around the hook and drawing the hook back through the stitch, wrapping the yarn over the hook and lastly drawing through both loops. There are also half-double crochet stitches, which are abbreviated to hdc, and treble crochet, which is shortened to tr. Sl is the abbreviation for the crochet term slip stitch.

Differences between British and American Crochet Terms

Some of the crochet patterns that you may come across could be American but others could be from anywhere around the world. A number of countries use certain crochet terms that differ in other places. American and British patterns, for example, differ in a number of crochet terms. The main differences are important because they can completely alter a pattern if the contradictory meaning is used. The American crochet terminology for a slip stitch is called a single crochet in Britain. An American single crochet is a double crochet in Britain. Likewise, an American double crochet is considered a treble crochet and an American triple crochet is a British double-treble crochet. It is essential that people who are learning how to crochet and who are using different patterns realize exactly what country’s terms are used. Using the American terms in a British pattern could ruin the whole project and vice versa. Most patterns should indicate where they are from or what crochet terminology they are using so, as long as care is taken, it should not get too confusing.

About the Author:

Terry Roberts is a professional translator and linguist, with a wide range of interests. Every morning you have the fun of finding the next door and seeing what's hiding behind it. Chocolate calendars are very nice with a chocolate treat behind each door. You could make your own calendar. The best thing about making your own calendar is that you can put your favourite thing behind each door, or perhaps you could put the gifts you are most wanting Santa to bring you behind each door.

All you need is...

Felt tip pens, paints or pencils, PVA glue, thin card or stiff paper, magazines and catalogues and two print outs from the Santa's Postbag website, the link is below. You need a calendar front and a calendar back.

Take the 'back' print out, it is covered in 25 squares. Each square corresponds with a door on the front print out. Cut out pictures from the magazines and catalogues and stick them onto the squares. Don't worry if the pictures hang out of the boxes a little, it wont bee seen later. Leave this to one side to dry.

There is a choice of two print outs for the calendar front. There is a Santa calendar and a Rudolf one. Print one out and colour or paint the picture on the front of the calendar. If you choose to paint it, you will need to let it dry out before you continue.

The front of the calendar needs to be stuck to thin card or stiff paper. Sugar paper would be ideal. Cover the whole of the sheet in a thin layer of PVA glue, and stick on to the card or paper. Allow to dry.

Each door on the front of the calendar needs cutting. You need to be very careful, and cut 3 sides of each square. The doors could open to the left or to the right, or upwards or downwards, whatever way you choose.

To cut the doors is a bit tricky and younger children may need an adults help.

Put a ball of plasticine or Blu-Tack on the table, and place your picture on top of it where you want to make the hole, at a corner of a square would be good. Push a pencil through the paper and into the Blu-Tack or plasticine. This will give you a hole to get the scissors into to cut the door. Cut around all 25 doors.

Stick the calendar front to the back (The sheet with the magazine pictures stuck to it) Making sure that you can see the pictures when the doors are opened.

Leave the calendar somewhere to dry.

On the first of December you an open the first door of the advent calendar, the door with number one on it. Open one door every day. The morning that you open door number 25 will be Christmas Day, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

About the Author:

S. My objective was to design a candlestick which could be really employed or just aimed like decoration. It should also be rather easy to make since my rate of production would be approximately 20 units. I turned two prototypes of which I could design and build a couple of the gauges which made the process much easier, more precise and less length.

This project covers the candlesticks themselves and the gauges which I had the practice to do them. I chose the mahogany tree for his color and workability, but any wood will be enough. My prototypes were turned off hard maple. The basic support is composed of three pieces: a base, a stick, and a handle. The base starts as 6” - place by 1” - thick piece. The stick is of the 2” - to adjust by 4 “- long piece. And life of beginnings of handle as” - the thick piece whose the size finished is 1 “diameter (only three sides are rounded). The finished support holds 5” large, and the low diameter is 5-3/8”. The base is frayed on the lower part and is bent on the face. The design of the stick includes cones, a nozzle of birds and pearls.

To prepare the for the action once the basic actions and of stick are dimensioned, flattened and adjusted, to find the center on the two sides of the base and the two ends of the stick (1). The handle can be presented and finished later. By using a compass, to draw one 5-3/8” ring on a side of the base; it will be the high side. To use an all for embracer centers on the two sides of the base and the two ends of the stick. One 3/8” piece of centers and catches of finger the base to the stick while sticking to the top (2). To throw one 3/8” little in the pressure drill and to drill a central hole on the basis on the subject “of deeply. Household candles are really cheap but look drab. Have you ever thought of making your own posh candles from cheap drab candles? It's really easy and they make perfect gifts.

All you need is...
Some flowers, leaves, confetti, sequins, beads, cheap household candles, hot water and greaseproof paper. The flowers, leaves and any other greenery need to be pressed. To do this, simply place the flowers and leaves between sheets of newspaper and put this between the pages of a big book. Put it somewhere flat and stack other heavy books of top of it. If a week they should be pressed enough to work with.
Take a piece of greaseproof paper, it doesn't need to be very wide, just enough to wrap around the candle a couple of times.

Arrange the candle decorations (leaves, flowers, beads, confetti, sequins and other bits and bobs) on the greaseproof paper. Don't put on too many and don't overlap them too much. There is only candle wax to stick it to the candle.

Put the candle on top of the decorations. Roll the candle up in the paper so that all the decorations are in direct contact with the candle. Twist the ends of the paper to keep the candle tightly wrapped. It will look a bit like a long thin Christmas cracker.

You will need a container that is as tall as the candle and which can hold boiling water. A plastic jug would do. Fill the jug with boiling water.

Taking great care, hold your candle at the top or the wick end, lower the candle parcel into the water so that all the decorations are under the water line. Hold it there for about 20 seconds.

Take the candle parcel out and wrap it up in a towel. Roll the sausage of towel and candle parcel back and forth as if it were a rolling pin. Do this for about 20 seconds.

Carefully unwrap the candle from the towel and from the greaseproof paper.

Finally holding the wick, dunk the candle in the hot water for 5 seconds or so. This smoothes the surface and applies a thin layer of wax over the design to fix it into place. Hold the candle by the wick and give it a minute or so for the wax to cool and harden before setting it down and to not alter the shape.

Easy!

About the Author:

S. There are endless possibilities when it comes to scrapbook making. Note that a lot of people love to have some really nice custom made keepsakes for different occasions. However, due to the fast paced lives that we have, most of us could not find the time to sit down and assemble our special memories into a scrapbook. Since there’s a strong demand for scrapbooks in the country today, one can easily earn a good living by doing the things that one truly loves to do.

Starting up your business

To get started with your scrapbook making business, you will need to clear out a space in your house where you can work undisturbed. If you don’t have an extra room in the house which you can turn into an office, just find a quite corner with good ventilation and lighting. You might want to work near a window so that you can take advantage of the daylight. To get started, you will need a working table, some glue, pencils, pens, coloring materials, scissors, cutters, paper punches, trinkets and lots of paper.

If you have children in the house, you might want to invest in a filing cabinet with a lock where you can keep all your stuff. Children are usually attracted to colorful trinkets and papers so it is better to hide your scrapbook making materials. There is really no point of quarrelling with your kids about papers and scrapbook making materials.

Once you have everything that you need, start by making some samples and take digital pictures of your creation. Post these pictures online together with their short descriptions and their prices. Once you have everything in place, you can start marketing your products by sending out e-mails to friends, relatives and colleagues. Invite them to take a look at your products. You can also ask your friends, relatives and colleagues to invite their friends to take a look at your site. You may also send out press releases to free public relations websites and join forums to invite people over to your site. Although there are really no guarantees that press releases and open invitations at forums will generate you some business, it can still help your site gain some exposure.

To help you get your first batch of customers, you may want to offer some perks to your would be clients. For instance, you can offer 50% discount to your first 10 clients and offer 20% discount on repeat orders. The good thing about giving out discounts is that a lot of people will be enticed to buy your product because of the discounts.

About the Author:

Patrick Bankay is owner of http://EZDollars4U.com and writes on a variety of subjects. The main consideration is the kind of tattoo design that you would like and the second consideration is where on your body you are going to have it done.

A tattoo can be an indicator of the kind of person you are in terms of what style you like and can even give others clues about your personality so it pays to take your time and plan out the tattoo you want. Check out different tattoo artists and parlours before making your decision. Also try and choose one based on a recommendation from somebody you know that has had a tattoo done that you admire. Whatever you do, don't check in at the first tattoo parlor you see and get a tattoo done.

Only the other day, one of my friends had a tattoo done rather hastily and I could tell he wasn't overly enamoured with the overall result. Too late now though, he's got to live with it unless he wants to go through expensive procedures to get it removed.

When you find the tattoo artist that you want to do your tattoo, have a meeting with them first to talk about the tattoo designs that are available, along with how much each tattoo is going to cost. Also view the artists designs and work whilst you are there.

Be sure to also choose a tattoo parlor that is licensed, as your health is a primary concern, along with hygienic conditions. It is also of value to consider if there are any implications on your life that this new tattoo will have. For instance, a tattoo on your forearm is probably not going to go down too well in a job that involves working with the public when you want to wear a short sleeved shirt in the summer. You get the idea.

Also think about whether you really want to live with this tattoo design for the rest of your mortal days. Sure, you make think it's the best thing since sliced bread when you initially look at the design, but are you going to feel that way in 5 years from now when you wake up to look in the mirror at it each morning.

You may also want to take along some pictures of tattoo designs that interest you to the tattoo artist so that they have a good idea of the kind of tattoo you would like. Small tattoos are simple enough to do, but large tattoos require more thought, time and consideration.

The internet is full of great tattoo designs, so it's also well worth checking in at cyberspace for a while and do some surfing to find the best tattoo design possible for you.

About the Author:

Article by Richard Davies of http://www.tattooandpiercinginfo.com ( A quality resource providing you with tattoo and piercing information )

Read more articles by: Richard Davies

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

A Review Of Artist Supplies

If you are an artist, you would realize that it is very important to find the right artist supplies for the project you intend to work on. If you do not have the proper tools, the artwork that you envision be in danger. So, when it comes to finding the right materials, how should you handle it?

There are several ways actually, beginning with what appears to be the most obvious. You can go to any artist supplies store in your area to find just about anything you may need for a project, but what happens if you live in a rural area, or if the artist supplies available in your area do not offer specifically what you are looking for you? Well then there's only one way to go, and that is the World Wide Web. The Internet is a great source for different artist supplies.

You should be able to find just about any kind of supplies you could possibly ever need online and some at incredibly affordable prices. It gives you an opportunity to shop at outlet companies that may not be located in your area as well. Basically, it is a good way to save time and money. Of course is just as any other of your purchases be sure that the merchant you are dealing with is reputable.

When looking into artist supplies companies online, remember to make sure their website offers complete contact information along with other company information. There are unfortunately, some fly-by-night operations lurking on the Internet. If you have any doubts, or are unsure of a particular web site then be sure that you check with the Better Business Bureau online to make sure they are on the up and up too.

By taking the time to do this you can ensure a good business relationship when it comes to purchasing the artist supplies that you need, without the hassle of having to lose money or products with companies before you find one that will treat you right. After all the World Wide Web is basically a faceless entity and it is easy for dishonest people to take advantage of others.

That is why it is vital that you exercise caution and diligence before making your purchases. You certainly do not want to pay for artist supplies that you will never receive, and you do not want to pay for items that are shipped, but are not the right supplies or even close to the art supplies that you ordered. You can certainly save yourself plenty of headaches by being on the lookout for suspicious signs.

Artists are said to be much like athletes. Whenever an athlete finds the right piece of equipment they will be loyal to that for a long time. Artist supplies are no different. If the materials are good quality and give the desired results an artist will want to use the same brands over and over again, which is really no different than any other entity that any consumer finds themselves needing.

About the Author:

Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning arts. But when you’re buying for a hobby enthusiast, your options expand as a host of hobby-related gifts becomes a possibility. For boating enthusiasts especially, a well chosen boating gift can be both enjoyable and functional.

There may be those people who are difficult to buy for because they seem to have everything. But when it comes to boaters, “everything” is a bit more difficult to acquire; for this reason, giving a boating gift means that you’ll always have something to buy that special someone – outfitting their boat with the latest and greatest in modern gadgets.

Today’s sophisticated boats are outfitted similar to floating homes. Subsequently, you can easily find a boating gift that adds to the convenience and luxury of the boat’s living quarters. Boating supply stores offer a wide variety of convenience items and appliances that are specially designed for onboard use such as blenders and coffee makers. Another boating gift could be a host of safe and attractive dinnerware that the boat owner can use to entertain. There are a variety of beautiful cocktail glasses, plates, serving trays, and utensils that you can arrange in a basket with linens that complement the boat’s interior.

To go along with this boating gift theme, you may want to present the boat owner with an additional basket of easily stored, non-perishable food items to keep on board for entertaining purposes such as small jams, crackers, or a nice bottle of wine. If you are staying on board for the evening or for an extended period of time you could think about bringing along a pre-arranged meal for an onboard feast.

There are also a host of decorative items to give as a boating gift including small candles, placemats, picture frames, and non-breakable vases. You could even put together a lovely basket with miniature toiletry items including small towels, creams, lotions, soaps, and powder.

Of course, there are also quite a few practical items that would serve as a wonderful boating gift, although these tend to be on the pricier side. Check with the boat owner to try to find out what items he/she still needs but hasn’t yet purchased.

No matter what you choose to purchase, the truth is that a thoughtful boating gift for the water enthusiast in your life will be well received and much appreciated!

About the Author:

For easy to understand, in depth information about boating gift visit our ezGuide 2 Boating.

Read more articles by: Michelle Bery

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Learn How To Develop Your Technical Skills In Nature Photography

Photography is the art of creating a special medium beyond your self-expression. It requires good taste, good sense of appreciation and technical skills in capturing the subjects. Many believe that they can profit in this chosen field as long as they develop their technical skills and knowledge in becoming a talented professional photographer.

Nature photography has always been inspiring and exciting. It thrills every photographer with its mystery and the beauty of wildlife.

One of the most amusing subjects for nature photographers are the birds.

Bird behavior has had great impact on pictures. Birds attract many photographers with their mastery of flight and their distinct diversity in nature.

Here are some guides that will help you focus on improving your skill in capturing images on these magnificent creatures of nature.

1. You need to know what interests your mind. You have to know your topics so that you will not be confused. You should learn more about birds by investing on a good birding guide. This will help you know more about their behavior, breeding season, and bird eating habits.

2. You should always keep your subjects well being in mind. Avoid those instances that create stress on your images. If the bird is not in its natural behavioral characteristic, you should leave the bird alone and allow the bird to recover first from its stress.

It can also be a sign that the bird might be nesting eggs somewhere near the site and that is why it portrays a “predator luring” behavior.

3. You should make your vehicle as your just like your camera an accessory. In some areas, you may see birds more adapted to vehicles and consider your vehicle less harmless than a person positioned on his tripod trying to take a good shot. You should learn how to be patient in finding the right place where the birds can accept the presence of your vehicle.

4. You may use fast shutter speeds cameras. This device is good in taking great bird images. Most birds are fast and can disappear quickly in the air. You may need a 1/500 second shuttering speed. This can capture sudden movements and flights.

As a nature photographer, you should maximize your surroundings. A good place for you to start your hobby in nature photography especially with birds is in your own backyard.

You can then practice the art and techniques of capturing great shots and wonderful images that nature has to offer.

About the Author:

Learn Nature Photography - Is an excellent guide to Digital Photography and finding which camera suits your needs. Well, this is only partly true: ice cream candles look delicious, yet you won't know what they taste like since they are actually made of wax. Highly appreciated particularly in cafeterias, sweets shops and at home, these kind of candles are the touch of color you may be missing. One thing is for sure, they are very likely to open the appetite for sweets. The creation of such funny candles brought not only bright spirits to our homes, but made room for a whole industry to develop.

Color and popularity

Given the huge popularity of ice cream as dessert, we can only imagine the huge success of ice cream candles. The most popular forms used are chocolate ice cream candles, banana split candles, waffle cups or sundaes. They all look so very real that unless you saw the wick or knew that you're watching a candle you'd definitely feel like tucking in. Very often, the windows of sweet shops are decorated with such nice candles given the fact that the actual ice cream would eventually melt. They are of a huge impact at home too, as they add the drop of fun your home may need.

Usually, a regular ice cream candle is made of soy wax and gel wax to simulate the “sauce”. Every single part of an ice cream candle is very scented to suggest the real flavor of ice cream. Imagine how your mouth may water only at the sight of it, not to mention the aroma! One thing is for sure, these candles are sheer delight, and they are not too expensive either. One costs between $8 or $13, depending on the type you purchase. Moreover, the glass that remains after the candles burn down can be reused, in any way you want.

Gift shopping

Very often ice cream candles can be chosen as gifts for friends or family you want to make smile. No wonder they are the joy of kids, but if you're giving them as a gift, you'd better have some real ice cream with you too, since at a certain level it is quiet difficult to make the difference between the real ice cream and the ice cream candle. Go on, have fun!

About the Author:

Ann Marier has written many articles on health problems and useful house and garden Topics. You need putty trial, a tray, sandpaper, joint putty and a scraper.

Start by sanding down the walls to remove any lumps or bumps. Then wipe down the walls to remove any of the sand left from sanding. You should be down to a base and see a clear white area. (This does apply to wood areas of the walls.)

If there are any holes in the walls, use putty trial and a scraper to fill them in. This may take a few coats, so keep repeating the process until the hole is completely filled in . Scrape it down completely smooth.

Then sandpaper the wall once again and wash it down to remove all of the dust. Let it dry completely.

Once you have taken these steps, you are ready for drywalling. The drywall kit will have all of the steps that you need to follow. Make sure you follow them closely.

Once the drywalling is done, paint the surface for the look and finish you want. You will need a few coats since this is bare wall that you are dealing with. Then you can rearrange the furniture and reinstall the curtains and any wall accents in the room

Be careful that the paint is completely dry before you put anything against it. Make sure when you paint the base that you use a shield to prevent any paint going on the wall.

Once your painting is dry, you can add texture or some other feature if you like. New curtains to go with the new paint color are always a good idea, and yo may want to put around some vases with flowers to accent the new color.

Finishes such as twirling, popcorn effect and other textures can add a lot of interest to the room. You can make the twirl texture in the shape of flowers, leaves, etc. Just use your imagination.

The new curtains, or reorganizing the room will do a lot to bring out the new walls in the room. Improvements such as this bring a lot of additional value to your home. A home that has new looking walls instead of cracks and holes will be much more attractive, both to you and to potential home buyers.

It is very cost effective to drywall your wall and paint over a room. For less than a few hundred dollars, you can get a whole new look to a room TA will improve the value of your home.

It is worth the time and effort to put these kind of improvements into your home. If the walls need this kind of work, putting off the job will only make it worse and you will spend more time and money to get it done.

About the Author:

Eric Slarkowski frequently creates online reports on things similar to drywall equipment and air tools. But in the case of Guadeloupe's contemporary art scene, you may be surprised to discover a wealth of originality. While Guadeloupe's artists do call upon island influences in creating their works, the results are often far from expected.

Koukara

Art professors Klodi Cancelier, Lucien Léogane, and Jacques Lampécinado founded Koukara in 1988. Today it's Guadeloupe's major art movement. Meaning “the Caribbean colors,” Koukara emphasizes the unity of the Caribbean people. Its avant-garde aesthetic tends to be abstract or surreal, often with indigenous touches.

A key technique employed by Koukara artists is the Fibressences method, which creates mixed media pieces. Fibressences incorporates natural materials in artworks, such as bits of wood, coconut fibers, sugar cane, and sand. These elements add an interesting three-dimensional quality to the work, as well as creating a close connection to the environment. Paintings in vibrant and deep hues make up the majority of pieces, but there are some exceptions. Karine Gabon paints on hanging fabrics and other materials, with an earth-toned color palette that enhances her primitive motifs; she also creates abstract sculptures. And Klodi Cancelier's paper series juxtaposed pieces of handmade papers painted with different colors and symbols.

Koukara's popularity has steadily increased over the years. With many of Guadeloupe's artists taking part in the movement, its style and ideals will likely continue to thrive in the coming years.

Other Contemporary Art

Aside from Koukara, Guadeloupe fosters the individual visions of other artists as well. Thierry Bergame's surreal pop art displays a singular style and sense of humor. On the other hand, Déglas paints scenes with lighter tones and in a more naturalistic style, though he often includes fantastic elements like anthropomorphic animals and skeletons. Jean-Marc Hunt mainly uses objects like tools, pieces of wood, and even a sewing machine to create his sculptures. And while his paintings share a similar style with the Koukara group, his subject matter is generally quite different.

Even outside of Guadeloupe, its first-rate artists shine in the spotlight. They've participated in exhibits throughout the Caribbean, France, the U.S., Canada, and Costa Rica. In spite of its relatively small size, this island nation cultivates big talent.

About the Author:

Writing for Segisys travel Web sites, Karen Joslin's articles range from arts (http://puertorico-guide.info/arts.and.entertainment/visual.arts/) to activities (http://bermuda-guide.info/activities/golf/). © 2006, Interactive Internet Websites, Inc. Some people have even remarked that scrapbooking meets are the quilting bees of the new millennium, where women meet to make pages and swap local news and gossip. What are the benefits of scrapbooking, and why has the hobby become so incredibly popular?

People have been making scrapbooks for more than a hundred years, but the scrapbooking hobby has only recently developed into a multi-million dollar industry. The first scrapbooks were collections of poems, letters, and other memorabilia. Often young ladies of the nineteenth century would create these collections, which were called commonplace books. Young ladies who worked in paper or cloth factories took the scraps off the floor to decorate their commonplace books, and this is how scrapbooking got its name.

The Present

One of the reasons for the recent growth in popularity of scrapbooking is the relatively new understanding about how to correctly preserve photographs without fading. Older scrapbooking materials contained acid and lignin, which over time cause discoloration and fading in photographs. Scrapbook companies are now making paper, glue, stickers, and other materials out of acid- and lignin-free materials, which ensures the photographs last for much longer. Companies began educating women about the need for proper scrapbook paper and supplies, and the word spread.

Scrapbooking is quickly evolving from a simple hobby to an art form. Finished scrapbook pages are called layouts, and scrappers take great pride in creating layouts that are unique and intricate. Sometimes the layout is less about the picture and more about the techniques used to create the page itself.

Many women are quitting their jobs and becoming work-at-home scrapbooking consultants. These ladies host crops in their homes where other people come and use their supplies to create layouts. The consultant will educate her customers to the art of scrapbooking, and everyone makes at least one page during the crop.

Another reason that creating scrapbooks has become so popular is that scrapbooks are a fun way to preserve memories and family heritage for future generations. Children and grandchildren will be more interested in exploring family heritage through a colorful and well-made scrapbook than just through a series of boring photographs in an album. The scrapbook also ensures the photographs will last for future generations, rather than simply being thrown in a shoebox and forgotten.

Scrapbooking is the hobby that is only going to increase in popularity, and be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds. No matter who you are and where you live, you have memories that are worth preserving. Get started creating a scrapbook today!

David runs a blog on the subject of Scrapbooking where you can find more information on this very popular hobby.

About the Author:

David runs a blog on the subject of scrapbooking at http://scrapbooking2.blogspot.com where you can find more information on this very popular hobby.

Read more articles by: David Everett

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Art Of Jewelry Making

There are some jewelry hobbyists that exhibit their creative edge and brilliant talent when making their own jewelry designs. It is a very rewarding experience that is made quite simple through Internet jewelry websites. These jewelers are very knowledgeable of what it takes to create a diamond, and are skilled craftsman when it comes to cutting multi-faceted gemstones with exquisite precision.

It’s hard to believe that an unattractive chunk of carbon could be crafted into something so beautiful. People love to wear these chunks of coal around their necks as pendants, and around their fingers as engagement rings to show the world they are truly loved.

Some jewelers like to explore all of the possibilities and keep an abundant amount of amethyst, citrine, aquamarine and garnets and other semi-precious gems on hand to fulfill custom orders that will add wonder and magic to someone’s day.

Some people have a particular stone in mind when they come in to place their custom jewelry order. They get captured by the beauty of loose gemstones that they see in a highly lit display case and hand select several gemstones to be added to their order. These extra touches of color will make a truly special wearable jewelry item that is custom ordered in their favorite setting.

The shaping of gemstones is offered in at least 15 varieties and each will prominently display the refined tastes of the particular jewelry fancier. The marquise, rectangle, square and round shapes fill a more traditional shape that is found in most jewelry fashions on the market today.

For creating unusual and unique shaped jewelry pieces, jewelry enthusiasts might choose a trillion cut or perhaps a triangle cut that will turn a unadorned ring band with few possibilities into a work of art in very little time at all. The rectangular Octagonal and Cushion shapes make dramatic shaped gemstones gifts for the most astute jewelry wearer in your life.

Whether you prefer a ring setting that is basket shaped, or prefer bezels with baguettes running vertical and horizontal in a swirled and very ornate jewelry creation, there are certainly many opportunities to display your favorite gemstones in exquisite styles that fit your personality.

Many people bring in their older jewelry pieces to have them remounted into exquisite settings that give new life and satisfaction to an old ring arrangement that they are no longer comfortable with. Paxton'/>
Finding A Good Knife Sharpener

Knife sharpening has always been one of the most important parts of tool maintenance, even dating back to the when the first primitive tool was made. In Colonial times, a grist mill was many times the first building to be set up when a new settlement was formed. This is because pioneers knew that without sharp tools, the building processed would be a very slow process.

Sharpening tools today are based on the same physics as the old grist mills and whet stones but a little more advanced and with a lot power. For instance, grinding wheels once powered by water wheels are now zapped with electricity to speed up the sharpening process dramatically. It now takes only a fraction of the time to properly sharpen its tools. A knife sharpener can come in several forms. The bench top grinder, for example, is good for sharpening axe blades and gardening tools.

It is important to keep your tools sharp for purposes of quality and safety. Chain saws need to be sharpened often to ensure a quality cut and, consequently, greater safety when cutting. An abrasive end to a long drill-bit attachment is inserted into the drill and tightened, and the drill quickly rotates the end as the saw blade is held against it. When choosing the best sharpener for your chain saw, look for a sharpener that comes with multiple tips since the tips will wear out quickly.

Tormek manufacturers a knife and scissor sharpener that is a bench top grinder with water which helps to reduce friction. The grinder comes with a complete package including a leather strop, though some users recommend a paper wheel to hone and stop the edges of the knife.

Versatility is the most important item to look for in a knife sharpener. It should be able to sharpen longer knife blades and strop the edges adequately. You should also consider whether or not the replacement parts are easy to obtain. These are all things that should be considered to ensure that you are getting everything you need, especially considering knife sharpeners appropriate for heavy duty maintenance can cost up to thousands of dollars.

Heavy duty grinding wheels and chains saw sharpeners are, of course, for the serious woodworkers and landscapers. For all others, there is a wide variety of less expensive and more portable sharpening tools available. The handheld sharpener you would find in a butcher shop is a basic tool requiring no electricity. Other variations include the wheeled knife sharpeners in which the blade is drawn between two hard wheels. Abrasive materials are drawn against a knife at about a thirty degree angle, and this is done whether it is electric and manual. Regardless of manual or electric, you can still get a quality sharpening. At the heart of how sharp a tool can become is the skill of the knife owner at angling and stopping the blade. These designs have existed for thousands of years, yet more than one thousand people search for information about celtic tattoo designs every day. So why are these designs still such a popular choice for tattoos?

The Celtic people have a long and proud history. From ancient times their people have shown an artistic ability to create complex works of art. These elaborate patterns took pride of place on their stonework, metalwork, weapons and jewelry. In fact ancient celtic designs carved in stone can still be found in both Ireland and Scotland.

Celtic tattoo designs usually consist of elaborate patterns of lines, loops and spirals that are linked together in a decorative manner. Occasionally animal designs, often depicting the tiger and the lion are incorporated into the tattoo design. These celtic animal designs (often known as zoomorphic tattoo designs) differ from traditional celtic patterns as the various lines and strands of the design end in animal heads, feet and tails instead of following a never ending path.

The meaning of these patterns is not readily apparant. To find the real meaning of celtic artwork you have to look much deeper. The constant interlacing of lines and spirals symbolizes the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. And the never ending route of the loops and spirals represents the never ending cycle of life, death and rebirth.

Celtic designs also represent the fight and the heart of the Celtic people who were renowned throughout the world as courageous warriors. And it's thanks to a combination of these noble values and the timeless symbolism of these patterns that they remain such a popular choice for tattoo designs.

The most popular and well known of all the celtic designs are the celtic knot and the celtic cross.

Celtic Knot: This tattoo consists of decorative loops with no beginning and no end which represents the continuing cycle of life and death.

Celtic Cross: The celtic cross is usually a highly elaborate design containing many interlinking spirals and strands. Once again, the lines used to create the outline of the cross don't have a beginning or an end, and as such represent the immortality of human life and love. The cross is also significant as the Celtic people believed it would protect them from their enemies.

Celtic tattoo designs are a great way of expressing pride in your ancestry whether you are of Irish, Scottish or Welsh descent. In fact these designs are highly popular among people from North America who have Celtic ancestors.

However, you should be aware that due to the elaborate nature of these patterns, celtic tattoo designs are not easy to create. So before you start, make sure that you find a tattoo artist who has experience in creating celtic tattoo designs. An eye for detail and the ability to place the lines and spirals in exactly the right place is vital. And even once you find a talented artist, it will take a lot of time, patience and dare I say it, tolerance of pain, in order to get your celtic design just right. So make sure that you find the perfect celtic design before you go any further.

About the Author:

Gustavo Gomez runs www.SuperTattooDesigns.com. They have come to symbolise positivity, high ambitions, dreams, ideals and even life itself. In fact, the greatest star of all, the sun is vital for our continued survival.

Star designs mean a multitude of different things to different people, but perhaps the most meaningful way to personalise the meaning of stars depends on the number of points depicted by the design.

4 Points

The four pointed star, either shown as a plus sign type cross with or without the ends sharpened, has close connections with the various Native American tribes and therefore has come to symbolise native american pride.

5 Points

The five pointed star is the most popular design by a substantial margin. If I asked you to think about a star, I bet you'd think of a five pointed design. But the five pointed star takes on many different meanings for different people.

First, there is the filled in pentagram. This solid five pointed star, like the type used on the American flag, is the most popular variety. It can form part of a tattoo design of almost any size and can appear on any part of the body. This design is the most basic way to symbolise a star and all the associated meanings of positivity and ambition.

Second, there is the outline of a five pointed star known as a pentacle. This is the most popular design used to symbolize witchcraft. This pagan symbol represents their quest for divine knowledge and the secrets of life. Each points of the star represents one of the five elements; air, water, earth, fire and spirit.

Third, there is the upside down pentacle which represents the darker side of imagary. This reversed pentacle is generally associated with the satanic or dark interpretation of ritualism. If you want to avoid this possible symbolic meaning, it's wise to choose the traditional pentacle star tattoo design.

6 Points

The six pointed star, or hexagram, is a triangle overlaid by another upside down triangle, and has existed since the early bronze period (3000 BC). Initially is was used as a magical symbol, but subsequently two further meaning have developed. The more obscure meaning relates to an ancient pagan god known as the Star of Remphan.

More commonly, the six pointed star represents the Star or Shield of David. After the arrival of Christianity, the symbol became popular among Jews and was adopted as the official seal of the Jewish community at the end of the 17th century. The six points represent balance and beauty.

7 Points

The seven pointed star, or septagram also has a variety of different meanings, each of which creates a vast array of tattoo design opportunities. As an added bonus, the septacle is not as popular as the other star designs so it could be a good option if you want your design to be totally unique.

First, it's the basic of the geometry of Le Basilique de Saint Quentin which represents the perfected man. The design is placed inside a square which represents the finite. Additionally, two circles appear in the center of the star, which are used to signify the sun and the role it plays in the center of the universe.

Second, it is known at the fairy star and is associated with elves and fairies. It represents magic and the spiritual realms and as such is seen a symbol of magic and childhood to many people.

Third, it is often the star worn by many sheriffs and law enforcement officers.

Finally, seven has long been considered a lucky or magical number. Lucky sevens, the seven wonders of the world, seven colors of the rainbow, seven notes in the musical scale etc.

8 Points

The eight pointed star or Octogram has a number of meanings. In modern times is the icon of the National and Auxiliary Fire Service, and for this reason is popular with firefighters across America.

It is also the symbol of the cross of Saint John.

In pagan terms it represents completeness and the regenerative cycle.

Finally, it was the emblem of the Knights of Malta and was popular during the Crusades. The eight points are said to represent the eight virtues of being a knight; Tact, Perseverance, Gallantry, Loyalty, Dexterity, Explicitness, Observation and Sympathy.

9 Points

The nine pointed star represents a connection as it is the symbol that unites the nine worlds in norse mythology. To many people it also represents completeness as it's the largest single digit number.

About the Author:

For more free information about star tattoos and ideas about a whole range of tattoo designs, visit Gustavo Gomez's site at www.SuperTattooDesigns.com.

Read more articles by: Gustavo Gomez

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

The Beauty Of Crystals

Crystals – fragile and strong; equally mythical and of the earth; functional and decorative – are a solid material, often clear but sometimes colored, that are formed from chemicals that becomes solidified.
