Most people envision a safe vehicle as one that performs well in those ever-popular crash test dummy commercials. But in reality, it's much more than that.
Consumer vehicle safety is based on two things: how well a vehicle fares in a crash and the features it possesses to help the driver of that vehicle avoid a crash to begin with. Both are equally important.

Avoiding a collision is ideal, but there will inevitably be collisions that are unavoidable due to weather conditions, other drivers, or unforeseen circumstances. When it comes right down to it, are you safe in your car or SUV?

Let's start with crash protection. Should you get into a collision with another vehicle, how well will your vehicle fare? There are three types of crash tests: full-frontal (two vehicles hitting head on), side-impact (broad-sided accidents that most often happen when a driver runs a red light), and off-set frontal (the most common type – when one car turns into another car and the brunt of the impact is taken by either the front seat passenger or the driver). Airbags are probably the most important feature when considering the three types of crash tests. The vehicles that rate the best have both frontal airbags and side-impact airbags. Many models now offer head-curtain side impact airbags – like the popular Isuzu 5-Passenger Ascender SUV – which are airbags mounted above the side windows instead of below them and better protect the head as opposed to the torso in an accident.

Many other vehicles also offer a variety of crash safety features (sometimes referred to as 'passive' safety features) like steel cage or steel side bars built into the vehicle's frame or collapsible steering columns that "give" by retracting into the dash to avoid causing torso injuries like broken ribs for the driver.

While it goes without saying, seatbelts are also important in surviving accidents. They may be the single most important feature of a vehicle in terms of safety. Shoulder harnesses as well as lap belts are now standard in almost every new car in both the front and back seats.

As we've already stated, features that help us avoid an accident are just as important. These are sometimes referred to as 'active' safety features because the driver can control the avoidance of an accident by using them. One such feature is an antilock braking system (also known as ABS) which frequently helps to avoid accidents.

Other features include responsive acceleration (a vehicle that has the ability to accelerate rapidly can merge into traffic more safely), internal visibility (a design that provides drivers with the ability to see the road and other cars clearly by minimizing blind spots), external visibility (a vehicle that can easily be seen by other drivers on the road), and emergency handling (the responsiveness of the steering wheel and how quickly and efficiently a vehicle responds to the driver's control).

About the Author:

Who has the best 4x4 trucks for 2007 - 2008? With the millions of cars on the road, construction work and road dust, you will mostly see a cloud of dust while you drive. Add to this is the fact that millions of drivers also smoke, making the air quality in their car go even lower than before. There is a way to fight back and regain the fresh air you deserve even while in your car -- by using car air purifiers.

The two major types of car air purifiers are the cabin air filter and the combustion air filter. Both types of car air purifiers allow the air in your car to be much cleaner and healthier to breathe. However, these air purifiers are incapable of being quite as effective as the air purifier units that are based in the home. The portable car air purifier units are only able to remove large particles, which allow the smaller particles to still escape into the car.

A car air purifier simply helps remove the harmful particles from the air that are inside your car. Many drivers are required to drive with the windows up on their car to avoid as many of the harmful particles as possible. The dust and smog that is in the atmosphere can really cause serious problems to those who suffer from allergies. Drivers with asthma as well as passengers also suffer the consequences of the poor air quality in their cars.

There are several different models of car air purifiers that are available and they range in effectiveness. You should not expect to pay more than $200 for a good quality car air purifier, but you should look around for the best model for your particular needs. Various brands and models of car air purifiers attach to the car in different places. While research shows that placement in the car makes no difference in effectiveness, most consumers have a personal preference that should be considered when selecting the perfect car air purifier.

A car air purifier is intended to easily plug into the car cigarette lighter in your car so it does not require a separate power source that most cars would be unable to accommodate. Most car air purifiers are designed so that they are not readily noticeable by those in the car, and are designed to be extremely quiet so as not to add to the noise level. Ease of use as well as effectiveness should be some of the main concerns to consumers seeking the perfect car air purifier for their needs.

About the Author:

Find more Helpful Air Purifier tips, advice Click Here: http://www.airpurifiersonsale.com A Popular website that specializes in tips and resources to include Blueair Air Purifier

Read more articles by: Tori A Hewitt

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Steamboat L. Who would have thought something previously done by professionals could be done in your own home.

While, the concept of painting your own rims has been around a few years now, many questions pop up of how to do it and I thought I would share my own experiences with painting my Integra stock rims. I have read up many examples of how to do this, but my first time trying was this year when I chose to refinish my winter rims. I was quite please with the outcome.

First, what the hell do you need to paint your rims? Paint of course :) This is where Duplicolor comes in with their wheel paint. They offer paint colors to match your style coming in white, gunmetal, classic silver and bronze as well. I chose to do mine in gunmetal leaving my lip the stock polished style look. So here are your options:

So you chose your color, bought your paint and are semi-ready. First, you need to sand down your rims. Why? This gives the surface a rough texture so the paint has something to adhere to. Reference the article to polish your rims on how sanding of the rims works. The only difference with this is how far you want to go. In my case, being winter rims painted I chose not to go through the process of stripping the paint on the rims completely. I simply sanded down the surface with 300 grit sandpaper ensuring to make everything sanded equally. This gives the rough surface required for the paint to adhere, and as long as your rims had no damage it should be good enough.

Your rims are sanded; you have your paint and now are ready. First, make sure you clean all sanding dust off the rims and ensure a totally clean surface so the paint will stick and not flake off after your first drive out with your newly painted rims!!! Here are my rims washed and ready to completely dry before painting:

My rims are masked off with newspaper and masking tape. Of course you want to do this so you don’t turn your tires into the color you are painting. I don't want gunmetal painted tires. Also if you look close enough, you will know that the lip has been masked off as well. So I carefully applied the masking tape on the lip to protect it from being painted as well. Also, you know the little thing you pump your air into, mask that off as well unless you want that to have a color change as well :)

The rims are dry, you have masked off what you don’t want painted and now you are ready. Put some newspaper on the ground and place the rim on top of the newspaper. You don't want to paint the concrete underneath the rim so keep it clean with the newspaper.

Now apply your first coat of paint. Let the paint dry well and next day admire your handiwork and results.

About the Author:

Steamboat L. But rather than managing the car donation programs themselves, they will often turn to fundraising organizations to actually handle the donation and auctioning of the vehicles. And that policy can mean a problem for you.

If you run an Internet search on car donation programs, you will get hundreds of hits from fundraisers who claim that they will let you choose from among a group of charities to which the proceeds of your car’s sale, of not the car itself, will go. And they will give you the paperwork you need to claim your car donation as a charitable deduction on your IRS return.

Taking Advice From The IRS

But the IRS itself, in recent years, has become alarmed at the proliferation of car donation programs run by fundraisers which end up keeping the bulk of the proceeds they receive for donated cars. The IRS recommends that it you are considering any of the car donation programs, you contact the people running it and get a clear answer as to whether they are charity officials, or private group acting for the charity.

If you find that they are a private group running the car donation programs of several charities, find out exactly what they plan to do with the car you donate. Will the car be repaired and given to the charity to help in its work? Or do the fundraisers intend to auction the car off and if so, how much of the proceeds will go to the fundraisers, and how much to the charity? For more info see http://www.1cardonationservices.com/Articles/Car_Donation_Services.php on Car Donation Services.

Car donation programs which cannot, or will not, give you clear answers to these questions are not those on which you can depend to see that your ca, or the money it brings gets, to the charity of your choosing. And if the charity does not directly receive the car or its value, you do not have the right to claim the value of the car as a deduction.

Legitimate car donation programs greatly simplify the process of connecting you with a charity which will benefit from your gift. But it’s your responsibility to research the various car donation programs in you area and ensure that as much a possible of your car’s value will be channeled to the charity, and that the charity itself is one recognized by the IRS. Otherwise, your well-intended car donation may turn into a big problem at tax time, when you attempt to take an unwarranted deduction!

About the Author:

You can also find more info on Car Donation In Portland and Car Donation Programs. 1cardonationservices.com is a comprehensive

Read more articles by: Wade Robins

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Car Leasing - Who Benefits From A Car Lease?

The television, internet, and newspapers are filled with advertisements from car dealers touting super low prices on leasing a car. Many individuals are confused with the lease process and completely rule it out as a viable option when searching for a new car. Although leasing a vehicle does not benefit everyone, many car owners would greatly benefit by leasing a car instead of buying one, either new or used. If you are wondering if you will benefit from a car lease, consider the following thoughts:

Average Annual Mileage

If you drive your car over the river and through the woods…and then some, then leasing may not be right for you. Generally, car leases have a strict mileage maximum and you are heavily penalized if you go over this distance limit. Although this distance differs from lease to lease, the average limit for annual miles allowed in a leased vehicle is around 15,000 miles.

If you can easily stay within that mileage limit, then leasing a car may be a great option for you. However, if you will blow through those given miles several times over, then you should think again about leasing. Many car lease companies charge as much as $800 for an additional 4,000 miles driven over the mileage limit—and the charges can get steeper depending on how many miles you drive over the limit.

Low Out of Pocket Costs

If you need a car for transportation but do not anticipate on driving it a great deal, then leasing works out as an excellent option. Many individuals who have a car lease enjoy the low out of pocket costs when it comes to bringing the car home. Instead of hefty down payments typically associated with buying a car, leasing a car requires a small down payment or none at all!

Additionally, the initial taxes or fees usually tacked on to the cost of a new car do not apply to lease cars, so you can easily start a lease with a couple of hundred dollars instead of the thousands you would need when buying a car. Furthermore, instead of a hefty chunk of your monthly salary going towards a car payment, the lease payments are generally a great deal less expensive since you only pay for the depreciation of the car’s value during the lease period.

No Need for a Loan

Since you will not have to try to finance the entire cost of the car, leasing a car is great for individuals who would otherwise need a loan. Many banks severely restrict giving car loans to individuals with outstanding debt, including a mortgage, medical bills, or student loan payment. Leasing a car is an excellent way to bypass the banks and skip the entire loan process. If you find yourself unable to get a loan or will be forced to pay extremely high interest rates, think about leasing a car instead of buying one.

Newer Cars More Often

If you are a car lover and are constantly craving that new and improved model that just hit the showroom floor, then consider leasing a car. Leasing is a great way for individuals to continually exchange cars for the newest model without having to lose the money invested if they were to continually buy and sell cars. If you plan on keeping a new car every year or every couple of years, leasing a vehicle is probably your best option over buying.

Whatever you decide when it comes to leasing a car, do your research and choose a company and car that will meet your every expectation. Know the exact terms of the lease agreement, including any potential charges that may be incurred at the termination of the lease.

About the Author:

Looking for more info on Car Leasing? Click here to find the top 4 resources for Car Leasing now!

Read more articles by: Jeffrey W Anderson

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Using A Car Wash And Wax

For many people, the car they drive is an outward expression of who they are. The person who drives the Volkswagen van, for example, is far different from the person who drives the BMW. Many of us have a special attachment to our cars, whether they are vintage classics or modern-day SUVs. We spend a great deal of time in our cars, commuting to work, driving the kids to soccer practice, and going out for groceries. As a result, many people treat and care for their cars with great attention. And this certainly is not a bad idea. The car that is well cared for will last longer, look better, and, should you decide to sell or trade, will retain a higher retail and trade-in value. One way to keep your vehicle looking its best is to treat it regularly with a car wash and wax.

While some people opt for the drive through car wash, these can add up very quickly, and often do not allow sufficient drying time before you have to drive off into heavy traffic and dirty streets. One way to quickly add more dirt and grime to your car is to drive it into traffic while wet with a fresh coat of wax! Obviously, this completely defeats the purpose of a car wash and wax! A more economical way is to do a home car wash and wax. It doesn't take as much time as you might think, and it's a great way to enjoy a beautiful afternoon. What's more, a home car wash and wax uses significantly less water than commercial car washes, which is good for the environment. You do not need nearly that much water to clean your car effectively. All you need is a good quality car wash and wax product, a bucket, hose, and non-abrasive towel. That's it!

When choosing a cleaning product, many people opt for whatever is around the house. However, some cleaning agents, such as dishwashing liquid, will clean right through the wax on your car, leaving it vulnerable to the elements. Even dishwashing detergent labeled "gentle" is not appropriate. The "gentle" refers to how it will affect your hands, not how well it cuts through grease, grime, and wax. A better solution is to choose a product specifically designed as a car wash and wax. This type of car wash liquid, in contrast to a dishwashing or other liquid cleaning agent, will not damage the finish on your car or scratch the paint. Even some liquid household cleaners that appear "soft" can contain abrasives that can cause many tiny scratches on your car, leading to a dull appearance and rusting vulnerability. A car wash solution is designed to clean, shine, and protect. Many are designed for multiple purposes, combining both cleaning and waxing agents, which make the job of cleaning your car that much easier. It's a one-step process.

When cleaning your car, use the "top down" cleaning method. The concept is that you start at the top and work your way down, so that the dirt flows downward and off your car. In other words, allow gravity to help you. Fill a bucket with cool water and either follow the directions on the car wash solution product label or simply add a small amount. These products are concentrated, and you don't need much to obtain a good clean. If your car has some buildup, such as dirt, road tar, grease, or bugs, consider using a car mitt specifically designed for use on vehicles with a car wash liquid. Again, these products are designed to not scrape or scratch the finish on your car. Also, when using a quality car wash and wax product, there is no need to use a high-powered spray nozzle. Some people do not use any type of a nozzle at all, but simply wet the car with a light flow of water from the hose. Dip the mitt in the bucket so that the dirt will fall off as you remove it; this helps ensure that no dirt will scratch your car. After all, there's no point in using a good quality car wash and wax if you're only going to scrape your car with the dirt you're trying to remove! Use gentle scrubbing motions with the mitt, and rinse and dry as soon as you are finished. Many absorbent towels are available for use on vehicles and other specialty uses that won't scratch or damage. A good, 100% cotton towel is best. To ensure that you don't damage the finish, use blotting motions rather than wiping.

If your car wash solution is designed for both cleaning and waxing, you're done!

About the Author:

Vincent Platania represents the Fuller Brush Company. They are essentially specialized tires that are designed to be used in the winter season whereas all season tires are meant for used in most conditions.

Some myths to dispel: there are car owners out there who are under the impression that the all season tires of today are so good and can deliver the same performance as the winter tires, and that winter tires are only meant for cars moving in snow clad, mountainous parts of planet earth, these assumptions cannot be further from the truth.

In particular, winter tires are made of superior rubber compound that have better traction compared to all season tires, and are designed to do well in cold temperature conditions. Special tread compounds are used in winter tires to improve traction. For some winter tires, soft studs tread fibers bite like metal studs are used and yet these compounds do not harm the road. The rubber's flexibility is retained even when the temperature goes up to zero degrees. Having a more flexible (= rubbery / pliable) tread surface means having more control and traction. The winter tires have silica-based, micro pore compounds that is used to 'bite' through the water film and increases the traction in the ice and snow.

All season tires have a different compound in which they have a average compound that provide good traction and better delivery in a wide range of road conditions. However, when temperature reaches below forty-five degrees Fahrenheit, the traction decreases. This is the point where all-season tire compounds begin to lose traction because it begins to harden.

Tread Design Differences

Modern winter tires are designed to have a tread that can maintain a more comfortable and quieter ride compare to their predecessors. Its circumferential grooves were made wider in order to efficiently drain water and expel snow at the same time.

In addition, the grooves on the winter tires are made to be about 25% - 35% deeper than that of normal tires and thus provide better grip. It has a groove shape and special lug that allows more snow to be packed into the thread and expelled as it rotates for deep snow traction. It also has a high density and sophisticated spine design that help cut through the water in order for the tread compound to make a better contact with the road. It even has a rounder casing design to add traction by cutting into the snow surface.

Conversely, all season type tires have different features. Its shoulder blocks and groove designs were compromise in order to meet the wear and cornering requirements of all season traction. It is less aggressive in terms of traction and is designed to deliver more comfortable ride. As a result of its design, it does not pack nor expel snow as effectively as winter tire does.

Flatter tread designs of all season tire enhances a dry traction but does not cut into snow effectively. Furthermore, all season tires perform effectively for the whole year, catering to both dry and wet driving on the road as compared to winter snow tires that are designed only to perform effectively during winter.

Conclusion

Winter tires are more sophisticated than what most common people think - and as mentioned, today's winter tires are more advanced and much quieter than their predecessors.

Winter tires exist for good reasons are important for you to have them installed for safer journeys on snow and ice. Do not rule them out as marketing gimmicks by the tire companies - winter tires are definitely a necessity and a good form of safety insurance that you want to have in place for yourself and your family - they are worth their money. Do note that while you are using your winter tires, your all season tires are not used - thus there isn't any wear and tear caused, and you will 'save' some mileage and therefore savings there.

Remember, all season tires can never be the substitute for winter tires, winter tires are the only tires that will give you the desired traction for your vehicle during the winter season. Make sure you use the correct set of tires to match the requirements of different road and weather conditions. The need for power for homes and sites, which are not connected, to a power grid is a growing need throughout the world. Remote areas of Central and South America are no longer too poor to afford electrical power but not at the stage to built vast hydroelectric projects or large power grids.

They can afford to build local village electrical power plants, which can meet the modern needs of the people until the modern power grid can reach out to them. There are places in the United States that are developing ahead of the ability of the local power company to expand; other places throughout the world are at the edge of civilization. All of these require power for business, commerce, medical treatment facilities and communication. The price of the modern diesel generator, the new technology incorporated into these units and their availability throughout the world make them an immediate solution.

Homes and ranches, villages and towns and remote sites should create a power needs list that includes every appliance in the home, business, school and public facility in order to determine the wattage needed. After this the home or ranch owner, city engineer or site foreman can select the proper sized diesel generator. Every diesel generator is rated at how many kilowatts of power it produces. If the home or ranch requires 22 kW to 25 kW then the sized generator should be at least a 30kW. A brigade sized army unit twenty years ago used a diesel generator(s) rated at 90 kW but its’ needs were lighting and mess hall refrigeration. Today it could be quite a bit more considering the new technology.

When you decide to provide power through diesel generators then you should consider whether you need a backup. The power of the generator is rated at 50% engine speed. The 30 kW diesel generator actually operates safely at 25 kW at 1800 rpm for prolonged periods of time. It would be safer if the home or ranch had two generators scheduled to operate in an alternating schedule of 12 hours each. This would ensure that the proper maintenance and care could be given the generators while providing continuous power. Other considerations in selecting a power generator involve selecting one that is a four-cycle, water-cooled industrial diesel generator.

A water-cooled generator operates more quietly than an air-cooled and it lasts longer. There are two electrical systems involved with a diesel generator, the DC (direct current) and the AC (alternating current) systems. The recommended DC system should have a starter motor with a battery-charging alternator with a solid-state voltage regulator. It should have an engine pre-heat electric switch and start/stop switch.

It should have an emergency engine shutdown system to protect the engine in case of oil pressure loss, excessive generator speed, over cranking and engine high water temperature. Finally, it should have DC electric system breakers. Make sure that the AC system is a four-pole revolving field and is has an AVR (automatic voltage regulator). These generators will provide power that is within -+2% as compared to utility company variation, which is -+5%.

About the Author:

John Stafford is the webmaster and a contributor for http://www.diesel-generator-central.com, http://www.for-all-boat-lifts.com and http://www.diesel-performance-pros.com

Read more articles by: John Stafford

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Biodiesel, What Is It?

In today’s world, one can hardly escape the subject of fuel prices and fuel supply. For a number of different reasons people have turned from standard petroleum based fuel sources and looked for a reliable alternative-fuel. Biodiesel is one such fuel that experts and enthusiasts have embraced as not only their idea of a fuel of the future, but is also their choice for a fuel for today. But, what is Biodiesel?

Biodiesel is a fuel containing some of the same traits as conventional diesel fuel. Biodiesel is made from high quality vegetable oils through a manufacturing process that can be done on a large scale - such as a refinery, or on a small scale - such as a home Biodiesel kit. The primary use for Biodiesel right now is as a substitute for petroleum based diesel fuel.

In different parts of the world, different plants are used as the source for the vegetable oil that is made into Biodiesel. Theoretically, any vegetable grown can be broken down and turned into Biodiesel, but right now most Biodiesel producers use one primary crop as their source. In America, the primary crop grown for Biodiesel production is corn. Corn, being one of the more common crops grown in American, provides a readily available supply of vegetable matter for Biodiesel manufacturers. In much of Europe, rapeseed is used in the production of Biodiesel. And, in Southeast Asia the primary plant grown for the manufacture of Biodiesel is Soybeans. After going through the manufacturing process, there is little difference in the properties of Biodiesel made from one plant over another.

The process used to manufacture Biodiesel from pure vegetable oil is called ester interchange. In the process the vegetable oil is combined with a much smaller amount of Methanol. Methanol can be manufactured by the fermentation of starch or sugar and it can also be produced from natural gas. The vegetable oil and methanol are placed in a small quantity of an alkaline catalyst and it is in this process that the chemical makeup of the vegetable oil is altered. The result is a clean burning fuel with a viscosity (flow properties) approximating that of standard diesel fuel. During this process, approximately 90% of what is manufactured is Biodiesel fuel, while the remaining 10% is in the form of the glycerine that was broken down from the vegetable matter. This glycerine can also be used in other applications in the chemical industry, making the manufacture of Biodiesel practically waste-free.

The current uses for Biodiesel are mainly limited to that of being a cleaner burning replacement for petroleum based diesel fuel. Biodiesel can be both economically viable and highly efficient for most mobile applications. There will be some performance and usage differences between diesel and Biodiesel and they will vary from vehicle to vehicle as expected. It is possible for most modern diesel engines to burn standard Biodiesel. Currently, Biodiesel is also marketed as a Biodiese/Ethanol mix or a Biodiesel/Diesel mix.

Still a young industry by any measure, Biodiesel is on it’s way to becoming one of the brightest lights in the search for a viable alternative-fuel.

About the Author:

Mark Allen is a strong supporter of the continued search for a viable alternative fuel. Owners of fleet cars, taxis and other high mileage vehicles can save thousands of pounds on annual fuel costs by converting their cars to run on LPG

Costs no more for insurance

Many motorists believe that an LPG converted vehicle will be more expensive to insure. However, a survey carried out by the LPG Association (LPGA), essentially showed that this isn’t the case. The top 20 insurance companies all said they insure a LPG converted car so long as the conversion had been carried out by an LPG approved installer. Out of the 20, only two insurers advised they would charge a higher premium.

LPG is safer than diesel or petrol

According to the LPG Association (LPGA), the gas is substantially safer to use than petrol or diesel. This is mainly due to the fact that the fuel is stored in a robust fuel tank, which is tested to rigorous standards. LPG tanks also shut down the gas supply if you have an accident.

It has never been easier to fill up

There are now well over 1,300 LPG stations in the UK. Traditional petrol pumps work much in the same way as LPG pumps and all LPG stations follow pretty much the same way of doing things. Most LPG pumps have clear diagrams to help on your first visit and it's impossible to put diesel or petrol in your LPG tank by mistake.

LPG is popular all over the world

Travelling in an LPG vehicle can almost halve the cost of travelling in a petrol-powered car. LPG is readily available in Europe, however it is more commonly known as Autogas or GPL.

Autogas also enjoys great popularity in Australia, The Netherlands, Italy, Serbia, Poland, Hong Kong and Korea. The former Soviet republic of Armenia may, however, be the world leader in autogas use.

Reduced maintenance levels

LPG is clean burning, contains no lead or carbon deposits and LPG car owners experience on overall reduction in engine wear and tear. Maintenance costs on spark plugs, pistons, rings and valves are also reduced.

Government grants available

Whilst the Government continues to reduce duty on friendly alternative fuels and offer Congestion Charge exemption they are also offering grants to car owners, fleets and businesses which consider conversion to LPG or other environmentally friendly alternative fuels.

Congestion Charges

LPG car owners can sometimes qualify for a 100% discount on Congestion Charges. Your car has to be an approved vehicle type in band 4 of the Transport Energy Powershift Register. Your vehicle must also be supplied or converted by an LPGA Approved supplier. Your vehicle must also meet the emission standards set by the Transport Energy CleanUp Register.

You can switch back to petrol at any time

LPG works in such a way that, at anytime you choose, you can change back to petrol at the flick of a switch. The switch is mounted on the dash board of your car and is used to switch between LPG and Petrol. Converting a car back from LPG to petrol is also a painless process and reputable dealers should offer this as part of their guarantee.

Environmentally friendly

Traditional fuels such as petrol and diesel are constantly taking the blame from the Government as the primary cause of low quality air conditions in the UK. Automotive vehicles emit a mixture of harmful gases including Sulphur Dioxide Hydrocarbons, Micro particulates and Nitric Oxides to name but a few.

Poor air quality, due to high levels of toxic emissions, imposes costs to society that are mainly related to health care costs. Health problems resulting from these emissions include Congestive heart failure, Respiratory problems and Bronchitis, which all relate to poor air quality.

LPG cars produce substantially less emissions according to research carried out by the Norfolk County Council. Individuals and organisations that adopt the environmentally-friendly alternative automotive fuels and technologies are not only generating cost savings for themselves but also for the larger society.

About the Author:

For more information about LPG Conversions in the UK. There are however some fundamental differences between a mobility scooter and a powerchair.

Mobility scooters have three or four wheels and are steered using a bicycle style handlebar (or tiller) which requires two hands, and are designed to travel up to 35 miles. They are often used by people with limited mobility, or those who tire easily when walking. Depending on the model and type of mobility scooter, the scooter may dissemble into easy to manage components so that it can be easily transported in a car, or stored at home.

Powerchairs usually look more like traditional wheelchairs, and some models even look just like a traditional wheelchair with batteries and a motor attached to each wheel. The powerchair is driven using one hand by a joystick controller on the arm of the powerchair. Powerchair users tend to spend more time in their chairs than scooter users spend on their scooters.

Because of this, powerchairs are usually more adaptable than disabled scooters and some models can have specialist seats and controllers fitted to suit the individual requirements of the user. For example, the powerchair can be controlled by hand, by a chin controller, or even using a sip and puff pipe operated with the mouth. The footrests can be specific to the user's needs and can include swing away or articulating footrests. Powerchairs are also more likely to be used inside although some powerchairs are equally capable indoors and outdoors. Mobility scooters are more likely to be used outdoors, although some of the smaller ones can be used indoors.

Electric scooters usually have one motor to drive the rear wheels whilst powerchairs have two motors to individually drive the rear wheels. This gives the powerchair a smaller turning circle which is ideal for indoor use, and provides a lot of traction and control. Some powerchairs even have the option of an electrically operated hydraulic seat so that the user can reach traditionally unreachable places like cupboards and shelves. Disabled scooters tend to be less configurable than powerchairs, and have fewer optional extras.

Disability scooters tend to be less expensive than powerchairs. Powerchairs have two motors, and better, more supportive seating as users often spend a lot of time in the powerchair. Powerchair users may not be able to support themselves, or be able to walk at all, and so their requirements are different from mobility scooter users.

Traditionally, powerchairs were not as easy to dismantle as mobility scooters, but this is changing and most of the powerchair manufacturers offer powerchairs that will fit into a car boot. Designs are constantly changing and improving, and powerchairs are becoming as easy to dismantle and as rugged as mobility scooters. Some powerchairs have six wheels for added stability, and some are front wheel drive for added indoor maneuverability.

Now that you have found out more about the differences between mobility scooters and powerchairs, you can decide which will best suit your needs.

About the Author:

http://www.scootamart.com are worldwide suppliers of mobility scooters, powerchairs, wheelchairs and everything mobility.

Read more articles by: Scootamart Staff

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Ford Aims To Have More Products With Less Workers

It is not a secret anymore. The Ford Motor Company that used to be part of the Big Three is now suffering from a loss of finances. But the company is set on making a comeback and bringing back the funds that were lost. Currently, they are now planning on doing a restructuring in their company. Rumors have it that the company would be announcing the final plans for the restructuring come this September. But sources say that Ford is set on creating more products like Ford Fiesta parts but with fewer workers.

Sources coming straight from the company are claiming that this auto manufacturer from Dearborn is planning on offering its employees who are paid by the hour a buyout package. Rumors also have it that perhaps even white collar employees would also be offered such a package. This would be done so as to quickly move towards their aim at having lesser workers. On this situation, Dr. David Cole has an analysis, “Ford has more younger workers under age 40 than GM had, and it’s tough for them to accept a buyout at that age.” Dr. Cole is the executive director for the Center for Automotive Research which is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. So perhaps it is going to be quite a difficult situation indeed for Ford.

If the rumors that the Ford Company would be cutting down twenty five per cent of its workers who are billed hourly and who are billed per month, then it would translate to around 30,000 people going to be jobless. And all these would be happening in the next twelve months. Mark Fields, the president of Ford for operations in the North and South America, states, “Everything we are doing to fix the company has to be done much faster than we originally planned.”

Aside from that, experts in the industry are also agreeing that the company has far too many products in the market which are no longer the kind of things that the market wants. Many have gone out of fashion like several of the company’s pick up trucks and large sport utility vehicles. If the company would be able to trim down their vehicle range and find that vehicle that would send the money back to the company, it would not be surprising if the company starts to get back on its feet.

About the Author:

Ford Parts and Ford Auto Parts http://www.premiumcarparts.com/ford-fiesta-parts.html ### Jason Moore, a 35 year old freelance writer from Austin, Texas. If you are, have you ever thought about buying a used car from an auto auction? Buying a used car through an auto auction, which is also commonly referred to as a used car auction, is a great way to find a large selection of quality, reliable, yet affordable used cars for sale.

When it comes to buying a used car from a used car auction, you will find that you have a number of different options. Two of your most common options include attending a live used car auction or participating in an online used car auction. If this is your first time attempting to buy a used car from an auto auction, you may be unsure as to which type of used car auction you should choose. When it comes to making a decision, it is best if you first take the time to familiarize yourself with both online auto auctions and live auto auctions.

As you likely already know, online used car auctions are auto auctions that take place over the internet. These auctions, themselves, come in a number of different formats. For instance, it is possible to buy a used car from an online auction website. Over the past few years, the popularity of online auction websites has skyrocketed. That is what has led many car owners to list their used cars for sale online. The only downside to doing so is that you honestly know nothing about the car seller. It can be difficult, if not completely impossible, to tell if they even have the for sale car in their possession. Also, online auction websites allow car owners from all across the country sell cars online. While this does give you a larger selection of cars to choose from, it can make the delivery costly.

Another type of online auto auction that you should be able to find online is auto auctions that are operated by traditional auction houses or companies. Due to the popularity of the internet, a large number of auction owners are rethinking the way that they do business. Many are now starting to replace their live auctions with online auctions and many are even deciding to do both. When an auction house or company decides to have an online used car auction, they often do so right on their own webpage. What is nice about participating in this type of auction is that you should be able to find a local auction company. This would make the delivery of the vehicle in question easier and it may give you the opportunity to stop by and examine or inspect the vehicle that you would be interested in bidding on.

While online auto auctions do sound appealing, mostly because of their convenience, there is nothing like attending a real, live auto auction. In fact, it is often recommended that those who want to buy a used car from a used car auction attend a live one. Live auto auctions are nice as you are able to choose which auctions you would like to attend. This means that if you live in a specific area, like the Chicago area, you can choose to attend a local used car auction, instead of one that is located too far away. You also have the option of choosing to attend a free used car auction or one that requires the payment of an admission fee; the decision is yours to make.

Perhaps, the greatest benefit of buying a used car from a live used car auction is the fact that you are able to see the car for yourself. In fact, you can often do more than just see the car. Many used car auction houses or companies have scheduled inspection sessions. These sessions are where you are able to inspect each used car that you may be interested in buying, inside and out.

Of course, the decision as to whether you would like to buy a used car from a live used car auction or an online used car auction is yours to make, but you should know that many car owners report success when buying from a live auto auction. For starters, you may want to check out the live used car auctions hosted by North Shore Auto Auction. Should you not find what you are looking for, you can then continue to examine your other options; options that may include online used car auctions.

About the Author:

Find cheap used cars online through our online auto auction. In fact, you can easily turn things in your favor, no matter if you are dealing with a West Virginia car dealer or a dealer from another state. One of the most important things that you have to do before going out to purchase a new or used car is to do your research – here are a few top tips that you should keep in mind when seeing a West Virginia car dealer:

1. Listen to the car dealer, but don’t be embarrassed to walk out. The dealer is there to present you with different offers and help you out with purchasing your car, but this doesn’t represent any form of commitment on your part.

2. Talking over the phone before you actually go to the West Virginia car dealer can be a great idea. While your goal is to get the best price for your car, you should also save some time by doing some pre-buying research in car prices and offers on the phone.

3. Start your shopping by considering the factory invoice price as the basis of your research. Dealers pay the same price for the factory products, so use that as a comparison method.

4. However, remember that some West Virginia car dealers may get incentives from the car manufacturer, so it’s often possible to get prices that are even lower than the regular factory price.

5. Do not negotiate monthly payments – negotiate prices first. The base price of the vehicle should be your main concern – the lower it is the less interest you will have to pay.

6. Make sure you know what you are paying for. You should be prepared to pay for license or destination charges, as well as the registration taxes. However, the car dealer should specify if there are any other taxes involved (promotion taxes, floor charges or sales charges).

7. Excitement can be negative if you are not well documented first. Don’t let the dealer get you too worked up about a certain car model, unless you have a lot of information on the vehicle.

8. The difference between invoice price and sticker price is in the 10 to 20 percent margin. This will also affect the final price of the vehicle, so make sure to find a West Virginia car dealer with very low commissions.

9. When buying a new car, make sure you don’t purchase options that you don’t need. They may all look attractive in the showroom, but are they really something you need?

10. It’s advisable to have at least two vehicle models in mind when purchasing a new car. You might have a favorite model and find out that you can get an excellent deal on your “plan B” car – this can offer you the same quality for a lot less money.

For some of the best West Virginia car dealer information and services please follow the links below.

About the Author:

More tips and resources on buying a car are available on http://www.wvautosale.com, where you will also get more information on West Virginia car dealers and West Virginia car insurance. My 1982 Toyota Celica. You talk about your great cars. How great?

Let me give you an example. The clutch started to slip (it‘s a stick shift). But I could still drive the car. I drove that car for another year-and-a-half before the clutch finally went out.

Try that with an American make.

This car has 350,000 miles on it, and is still going. In an age of selfish, shallow, throw-away material possession punks, this car is as tough as nails.

The power steering started to leak under the car. I was told fixing the leak would cost more than the car was worth. It’s all banged up and rusted. The mechanic told me to just keep pouring more power steering fluid in. I did this for awhile, but the leak got worse. Then the steering went tough. But I can still steer the car.

I went back to the mechanic and he said, “If your power steering unit is separate, not hooked up to anything else, we can just unhook the rubber belt. You can still drive the car. End of leak. End of problem.

He unhooked it. Sure enough, the car now steers like an old truck. But now I’m used to it steering that way. And it didn’t cost me a dime.

Don’t you love a car that when it has a problem, you just unhook the problem. The car is getting simpler. Less things to go wrong.

This car was made before all that computerized crap. You can still work on the car. Even me. I’m a dyslexic jerk when it comes to anything mechanical. I can’t even screw a screw into a nut without hurting myself. But I can change the spark plugs on this car for a cheapo do-it-yourself tune up.

I love this Toyota, the toughest car ever made. This car to me is like Trigger was to Roy Rogers.

I was gassing up at the gas station. The guy next to me said, “pardon me. But did you know your car is rusting out? There’s a hole there."

“Yeah,” I said. “I know.”

“I envy you,” he said. “That you don’t care.”

I later put some tape over the hole.

I should be ashamed of this car, the way it looks. I’m not. Let me explain. We live in a phony, false society where showing off is big time. Thus, you buy a car on credit with money you don’t have and make payments to a bank on the car, and preen and strut around like you own the car, when it’s all a big lie. You feel good about yourself because you own a car that you don’t own. The bank owns it.

Somebody runs into your car and dents it. And you already start thinking about a new car even though you haven’t paid for the first car.

Every five years, you have to buy a car, if you’re like everybody else.

I DON’T HAVE TO. MY CAR WAS PAID FOR BACK IN 1985.

Understand? It’s like I’m a rebel against the system. Everybody else does it (buys a car), but not me. It’s like I’m getting away with not paying my taxes.

People say they don’t like old things. But they really do. Old things give a sense of permanence, solidity. Toughness and age should count for something. It does. A woman who I had not seen in five years was talking to a friend over the phone, and asked, “is he still driving the same car?”

I’m famous because of my Toyota.

When the plastic door knob broke on the outside, I just hooked up a rope around the window to the latch on the inside. I come to the car, pull on the rope, and the door opens. Easy.

My Toyota also dispenses justice. I go 55 mph in the slow lane on the freeway. That means I hold up speeders, especially ignorant dope smoking truckers named Sparky who are mad at the world and have Confederate flags on their windows.

I love this Toyota. At one time, all four red warning lights were on, brakes, radiator, transmission, something else…and the car sailed along anyway.

Another time, the alternator went out, and I continued up the freeway for forty miles. The car stalled as I pulled into the parking lot of the repair garage. It was easily fixed. The woman receptionist in the repair shop was astonished and said, "we never see these cars in here."

The car had gone five years without a repair.

I want to be a spokesman for Toyota. I think they should put my car and I on display. Title it, The Car Too Tough to Die.

© Copyright 2006 by SammonSays.com

About the Author:

John Sammon is the author of two books and writes a weekly humor column you may access at http://Sammonsays.com.

Read more articles by: John Sammon

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Understanding Your Car’s Exhaust System

Vehicles nowadays are equipped with advanced features compared to other models developed years ago. Like the human body, vehicles are also composed of different systems. These automotive systems include the electrical system, engine system, electrical system, steering and suspension, and the exhaust system. All of these components perform different roles that enable an automobile to function properly.

One of the substantial components of a certain vehicle is the exhaust system. Exhaust systems transmit burnt gases coming from the internal combustion engine to the exhaust pipe. Today, most of the modern vehicle’s exhaust system is designed to make the gases flow through a catalytic converter reducing the air pollution. A device called the muffler is also utilized to minimize the noise produced by exhaust system. Like the other automotive system, the exhaust system also contains several components.

One of the components of the exhaust system is the manifold or header. The main purpose of the manifold is to gather the burnt gases from multiple cylinders in the internal combustion engine and place it into a single pipe. Header is an alternative name for manifold and these are especially designed to enhance the performance.

Header-back is the portion of the exhaust system that allows gases to flow from the outlet of the header to the exhaust pipe. Turbo-back is the part of the exhaust system that is located between the outlet of the turbocharger and the exhaust pipe. Some of the exhaust systems eliminate catalytic converters because the turbo-back performs the same function as the catalytic converter. The last component of the exhaust system is the catback. Catbacks are also refereed as axle back, which is the part of the exhaust system that is located in between the exhaust pipe and the outlet of the catalytic converter. The catback also includes the muffler and the whole length of the exhaust pipe.

There are lot of exhaust systems available in the market today like the Jaguar XKR exhaust system.

About the Author:

Jaguar Parts and Jaguar Auto Parts http://www.jaggparts.com/jaguar-exhaust-system.html ### Michelle Crimson holds a degree in business administration. That is the beauty of an iPod small and very potable. With an iPod you can listen to your tunes while working out at the gym, working in the yard, or taking a walk.

How about listening to your iPod in the car? Listening to your iPod while driving using a head set can lead to a dangerous situation. With your favorite song cranked up you will not be able to hear anything around you.

Are there iPod car accessories that will allow you to safely listen to your tunes in your car? Yes there are, two such iPod car accessories are the car mount and the FM transmitter and car dock.

Car Mount

An iPod car mount is an adjustable iPod holder that firmly attaches to the louvers of the vents located on the dashboard. This holder is easily removed which allows for the user to reposition the device. In addition, because of the mobility that this device offers, this iPod car accessory can be transferred to other vehicles. Also, because the device is attached to the vent, there is no need for installation tools or damage to be done to the interior of the vehicle.

In addition to being easy to use, minimize the distraction element for the driver. The iPod car mount will securely hold the iPod and prevent the device from falling. Also, the iPod display will be close to eye level which will aid the user in viewing the screen.

Some of the new high end cars now offer a built in car dock for your iPod. The car dock is integrated with the car’s audio system so that when an iPod is docked it will play the songs from the iPod. What if I don’t own a car that has an integrated iPod dock? Not a problem, consider the FM transmitter and car dock.

FM Transmitter and Car Dock

The FM transmitter car dock plugs into the car’s cigarette lighter. The car dock has a slot that fits into the iPod’s data connector. While connected the car dock will charge the iPod. The car dock mounts on your dashboard or center console. The car dock holds your iPod securely in place so that the iPod will not slide across the seat when making a sharp turn.

The car dock also connects to the iPod’s headphone jack. The dock contains a mini FM transmitter. The FM transmitter can be adjusted as to which ‘station’ it will broadcast on. Before you head out on your trip, find an empty FM station on your radio and then adjust the FM transmitter to broadcast on that frequency. Tune your car radio to the same frequency and you are now able to listen to your tunes that are stored on your iPod.

What good is having an iPod if you cannot listen to your music whenever and where ever you go? With these iPod car accessories you can safely listen to your music while driving in your car.

About the Author:

Want more information about iPod accessories? Jedediah'/>
Your ATV Tire Choices

There are lots and lots of choices out there when it comes to your ATV tires. Your choice will depend on how you plan to use your ATV. Whether you plan on taking your ATV in the mud, taking on some trails, or cruising around a field, there is a tire for you.

We are all after a good deal, and while deals can be found on ATV tires, you will want to avoid buying used tires if you can. Used tires should not be used for everyday use, because once the tread is worn down or the rubber starts to wear down the tires are no longer safe. It is hard to find good quality used tires, although if you do find some, it wouldn’t hurt to have them around for emergencies.

How do you know when it is time to replace your ATV tires? How often you need to replace your tires will depend on how often you use your ATV and how well you care for your tires. In general, you will need to replace the tires when you can no longer see the pattern on the tires, in other words, the tread is gone. You will want to replace the tires also if you can see the rubber on the tires starting to wear from age.

Proper care of your ATV tires can increase their useable life. Make sure that the tires are inflated properly – according to the manufacturer’s standards. If the tires are under-inflated, the ATVs turns will be sluggish. Some adventurers will over-inflate their tires to try and get better performance on trails. This can lead to faster tire wear and an increased chance that the tires will rupture.

You can purchase ATV tires at a local dealer or on the Internet. If you are new to ATVs your best bet is to let a local dealer change the tires for you. When choosing new tires there are some things you should consider. Know what tire was made for your ATV.

The tire that the manufacturer chose was chosen for a reason. That is the tire that is probably going to give you the best performance. However, if you typically use your ATV in extreme conditions like mud, then mudding tires may serve you better. You can also choose different tire sizes, treads, and shapes. ATV tires come in round or flat. Your choice will depend on whether you use your ATV for sport (flat tires) or utility (round tires).

After you have your new tires, you need to dispose of your ATVs old tires responsibly. They should not be thrown out. The tires have to be recycled or disposed of properly. You can find a local recycling company to dispose of them for you, or you can let the ATV dealer handle the disposal of the old tires for you.

Now that you have a basic idea of how to choose and care for your tires you are one step closer to enjoying your ATV. With a lot of care and routine maintenance, your ATV tires will serve you well!

About the Author:

For more ATV uses please visit http://www.atvexcitement.com a popular ATV website that provides tips, advice and ATV resources. The winner of the bid is normally legally bound to buy the item auctioned. In recent times auctions have been conducted online.

If you’ve budgeted for possible out-of-pocket expenses in case of a car accident, you might want to consider increasing your insurance deductible to $500. This will lower the cost of your insurance.

Taking a course of lessons will give you the chance to be accepted by an insurance company for your first Insurance policy. In fact most companies will insist on a minimum number of lessons completed by a recognised school, before a son or daughter will be admitted onto a Parent’s policy.

The pros and cons of motorcycle stunt

Motorcycle riders and fans all over the world are always on the lookout for motorcycle stunts that will keep them hooked to their seats or on any stable ground from where they are watching. The truth is that fans all over the world live for motorcycle stunts.

The word stunt is usually associated with action scenes or dangerous movements made by any person either on stage, on television or movies and even live performances. The common denominator is that a stunt involves risk to the performer or the person doing the stunt.

Some stunts are done by bare hands such as jumping on top of a building while some stunts are done using vehicles or motorcycles. Motorcycle lovers flock to motorcycle shows and exhibitions because of the stunts that the riders do no matter how dangerous.

Motorcycle stunts are more dangerous because the rider only has two wheels to support him and there is always the danger of his head being heavily injured despite the use of helmets and padding.

Any stunt for that matter requires prior planning as to the safety of the performer as well as the audience. There are stunts that are done to shock the performers without looking into the possible harm that may be caused to all the people involved in the stunt.

Step forward to 2005, and the current year model is a nice departure from earlier years. The 2005 Ford Focus has improved as it has aged; let’s examine what is helping the car to be a proven competitor in the crowded small vehicle segment:

When changing provider, Car Insurance companies will usually ask you to prove your No Claims Bonus in the form of a renewal notice or a letter from your current Car Insurance company. If you have several years of No Claims Bonus but then make a claim, the Car Insurance company will usually apply it's rules of how much to knock back your No Claims Bonus Years

After you have finished filling up your tank, you should twist the gas pump nozzle a full 180 degrees. This will drain a bit more gas into your tank, sometimes up to an entire half cup. If you don't do this, the extra gas would just be a bonus to the next gas customer.

In the first place, motorcycle stunts should only be done by riders who are already considered experts in their field. Novices in the world or motorcycle riding and racing shouldn't be allowed to do stunts that would endanger their safety and even their lives. Even experienced stuntmen should ask themselves whether or not doing the stunt is worth the danger posed to them. Some do stunts for enjoyment, others for fame and glory while some do it for money. Others simply do it for the adrenaline.

Every motorcycle stunt should follow a plan or a script which should be implemented to the letter to minimize the risks on the safety of the performer and the audience.

Motorcycle riders should be honest with themselves and evaluate their capabilities. They should be responsible enough to know the risks involved in doing the stunts. Everyone has their own limits and they shouldn't push themselves too hard to do motorcycle stunts that are beyond their capabilities.

Riders are a wild bunch and they will always go for broke. It may be the excitement that gives them the energy and the resoluteness to do dangerous motorcycle stunts. Whatever the reason is, they should always be ready to face the consequences of such acts. More motorcycle products at Salehoo, all at wholesale prices. See my salehoo review.

Gas prices are getting more and more ridiculous. And it’s going to keep increasing with no limit in sight! For the new car owners out there, do you know that a gallon of unleaded gasoline used to cost only $1.25?

Being a full hybrid, the Mercury Mariner employs both series- and parallel-hybrid characteristics. The gasoline engine shuts down to conserve fuel during coasting, at stoplights, and at low speeds.

The cost of your policy is directly related to this amount. Many people, particularly those who have had their insurance policy for a long time, have never considered whether they ought to vary their deductible. If you have a good driving record and are prepared to increase the risk of paying a larger amount in the event of a (hopefully unlikely) claim you can save money by increasing your deductible.

About the Author:

See SaleHoo for bike products at wholesale prices, and my Salehoo Review.

Read more articles by: Greg Haehl

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

Newcastle Car Auctions, The Ultimate Car Auction Yard

Newcastle car auctions offer high quality vehicles, competitive financing for luxury or economy cars. Every year road traffic accidents cost the American economy millions of dollars.

So if you want to avoid becoming part of these statistics it's important to learn the secrets of defensive driving. Learning how to read the road and anticipate the hazards that you may face will allow you to cope with any driving situation that develops. It will help you to become a safer driver and protect your own life and those of your passengers and fellow motorists.

Defensive driving instruction is provided by approved instructors and authorised training companies. Their aim is help everyone attain their peak driving potential through raising awareness of various issues including; defensive driving techniques, anticipation, alertness, safety equipment, driving hazards, regulations, substance abuse, assessment of driving behaviour, safety checks, commentary driving etc.

The internet is a powerful resource to help find the best defensive driving courses for your circumstances. But before you decide which defensive driving course to take, there are a number of things to consider.

1) The Type Of Course

One of the first things to consider is the type of defensive driving course that you intend to take. Broadly speaking, there are four main types of driving course. First, there is the traditional classroom based course. This is still the most popular option, although thanks to modern technology, it is rapidly being overtaken by the second and third options, online classes and correspondence courses. Finally, there is the practical option, where you and an instructor take to the roads for some real life driving experience.

2) The Reason For Taking The Course

The next thing to consider is your motivation for taking a defensive driving course. Ideally, you should take one of these courses in order to improve your driving skills and increase your safety on the road. However, the most common reason for taking a defensive driving course is because the court has ordered it, either to discharge a ticket for a road traffic violation, or to avoid a fine or jail time. But whatever the reason, it's important to undertake these courses because you want to become a better driver. If you don't approach these courses with the right attitude, you'll be wasting your time and potentially risking your life.

3) The Cost Of The Course

Cost can be another major factor when deciding which type of course to take. The most expensive options are the traditional classroom courses and the in car courses. But these have the great advantage that you have an expert instructor who is available to answer your questions. On the other hand, both online courses and correspondence courses are less expensive and they allow you to work at your own pace, but they don't provide one to one contact with a qualified instructor.

4) The Financial Benefits Of The Course

The opportunity to save money is also another main consideration in favor of learning to drive defensively. Not only will it allow you to avoid fines or traffic tickets and reduce the wear and tear on your vehicle, it can also reduce the cost of your car insurance. Most insurance companies will cut your premium by up to 10% in return for successfully completing a defensive driving course. So in most cases, the cost of the driving course will be recouped by other savings over the long run.

5) The Length Of The Course

Time is another major factor associated with the type of course taken. Traditional classroom based courses might take two or three hours a week spread out over two or three weeks. Alternatively, they may be compressed into an intensive course that lasts one of two days. In car training is likely to be spread over a similar timeframe. And finally, both online and correspondence courses will take the same amount of time, but allow you to work at your own pace and in your own time.

About the Author:

If you want to learn about defensive driving and how to stay safe on the roads, Charlie Moore can help.
